International Trade Counseling

Supporting Pennsylvania Companies

I need to:

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania understands that increased exports means new and high-paying jobs for Pennsylvanians. For this reason, the Commonwealth has one of the most comprehensive international trade development programs in the United States. The State’s Export Assistance Program, managed by the Department of Community and Economic Development, provides companies with the infrastructure needed to research new markets, locate qualified buyers, and provide on-going export support.

The World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia is the Southeastern Pennsylvania regional representative for the Pennsylvania Export Assistance Program. We are one of ten Regional Export Network partners that serve as your company’s first point of contact when starting to evaluate new export opportunities. If you need assistance with services from the Pennsylvania Export Assistance Program please contact your international trade specialist, you will likely need to complete a work order form.

Some of the services we administer on behalf of the program include:

  • Market entry strategy development;
  • One-on-one counseling and technical support; and
  • Access to grants and financing programs – such as the Global Access Program (GAP)

Through the Pennsylvania Export Assistance Program, the Commonwealth contracts with approximately 20 overseas representatives, covering 62 countries. These Authorized Trade Representatives (ATRs) are local, on-the-ground business professionals who are deeply knowledgeable about the business, social, and political environments of their countries and regions.

The ATRs provide a range of services to facilitate export market development, including:

  • Foreign company background checks and market intelligence;
  • Customized searches for qualified buyers, agents, distributors and partners;
  • Competitive analysis and pricing evaluations; and
  • Tailored appointment schedules and in-country logistical support.

Supporting New Jersey Companies

I need to:

Since its inception in 2002 at the Delaware River Port Authority in Camden, the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia (WTCGP) has had an increasingly important role in assisting New Jersey companies develop and compete in global markets. With an international trade services manager dedicated to counseling and assisting New Jersey companies, your company can access advice and expertise specific to your business.

Under the auspices of a 2010 grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), the WTCGP has developed and implemented an industry-targeted economic development program that builds on the success of past initiatives and focuses on industry sectors that have the greatest potential for regional economic growth and future job creation.

Working in partnership with the State of New Jersey’s Business Action Center, the U.S. Commercial Service Export Assistance Center in Trenton, and the region’s leading trade finance banks and brokers, the WTCGP held a well-attended seminar in November 2012 that educated small- and medium-sized companies on the financing and insurance products available through the Export-Import Bank of the United States and the U.S. Small Business Administration. A previous seminar focused on the life science and technology sectors and covered intellectual property, structuring agreements, and developing a market entry strategy. These types of educational seminars enhance and complement the mission of the State of New Jersey’s Business Action Center, whose goal is business growth and job creation by increasing the global competitiveness of New Jersey companies.
